Lanzarote

The most eastern island of the Canaries (Islas Canarias) — Atlantic, 115 km from the African Western coast — size 795 km2, width 22 km, length 60 km — more than 120 000 inhabitants plus on average 70 000 tourists (2 million per year) — mainly Roman Catholic — province of Spain.

The bungalows of Charco Natural are situated in Charco del Palo near Mala on the Northeast coast of the island Lanzarote, the most eastern island of the Canaries.

  The Island

Of all Canaries, Lanzarote is perhaps the most peculiar island of the archipelago. The island, with its many volcanoes, craters and black lava fields, presents a vision of dreariness at first sight. But the surprising variety of beautiful beaches, coasts with bizarre formations of lava and steep cliffs, and in particular the mysterious 'moon landscapes' consisting of black cones of volcanic ash and fields of lava provide an unforgettable impression.

  Climate

Because of lack of mountains, Lanzarote has a dessert climate: the wet trade winds pass the island, mostly without leaving a drop of rain. However, that is exactly what creates a perfect climate for the tourists: a rather constant temperature during the whole year (21 - 29 °C), with much sun and hardly any rain.

  Entertainment and Sights

For those who, apart from the beach life, are above all looking for amusement parks and nightlife entertainment, Lanzarote is perhaps not the best choice. However, the island provides a number of attractive sights like cave complexes, a cactus garden, a bird park, many museums, local markets and many, many fascinating panoramas.
